Film Department
'Films made with people and for people not just about people'
We believe that everyone is the expert on his or her own life. We are experienced film makers, facilitators and listeners. We pass on skills and train and support individuals and groups to make their own films, tell their stories and represent themselves to a wider audience.

We take the film-making processes to be as import as the end product created. We ensure that participants are involved in all decision-making and that they have ownership of their final film. Throughout the process many participants have the chance to hear themselves for the first time, to learn new skills, explore how certain issues may affect their lives, increase in confidence, become more self-aware and aware of choices they have made, and consider the possibilities of positive change.
Brian: "I look at the person on the TV and feel for him, only then I realise that it is me."
Our film department is a thriving and busy department at Valley and Vale. We have built a reputation for both our high quality Community Film processes as well as the finished products we help to create.
We
have worked with a variety of different groups and individuals using
film for over 20 years, with projects involving young people, adults,
people with physical or learning disabilities or mental health problems,
with people in prison, women's and girls' groups,
advocacy agencies and groups, on corporate training projects with
companies such as Legal and General, and in partnership with many
voluntary sector organisations, charities and statutory bodies including
Women's Aid, Princes
Trust Cymru, Youth Offending Teams, Pupil Referal
Units, Mental Health Services, Childline
Cymru and many many more.
