HEALTH & ADVOCACY FILMS
Films made by people with learning/physical disabilities or who have experience of mental health issues.
Our films are priced at £10 each - plus p&p for UK purchase orders*. Some are currently not for sale (N/S) - we are in the process of gradually changing the format from VHS to DVD. Please check the date of the films – some of the older films (ie produced before 2000) were filmed on old tape formats and the quality is not as good as we would like but we have decided to transfer them to DVD as many of them are important archive films. All our films are PAL format.
Contact us if you want to talk about buying or hiring a film, want to find out more before buying, or if you are interested in hosting a visit to your group. Contact us also if you would be interested in us making a video either with or for your group, project or organisation. You can also see some clips from some of our films on this web site.
(*NB. For videos which are purchased in bulk packs of 10 or over, there will be a price reduction. Please contact us for more info).
Creative Minds
This film uses words, images and music to explore a range of issues and thoughts about life. This series of short individual films was made by a group of service users at MIND in the Vale who wanted to use video to express themselves, and was facilitated by Neil Williams and Tim Smith of Valley and Vale.

Wishing on a Star
The film follows the fortunes of a girl called Jessie who is suffering
from Asperger's Syndrome. Misunderstood by her classmates and teachers
alike Jessie's life seems to go from one disappointing day to another.
The night before her 15th birthday, however, she falls asleep wishing
for a friend who would understand her. When she wakes up it soon becomes
apparent that this day isn't just another ordinary day in her life. The
friend she wished for materialises, her teachers become aware of her
talents, and her classmates finally realise that there is a lot more
to Jessie than meets the eye.
The film was conceived, written and produced by the young people themselves and drew on their own real-life experiences of life with Aspergers. The result is a heartwarming tale that has already caused a few tears to be shed by those that have seen the film.

It's Been a Good Day Today
In 2005 we worked on an On Common Ground project with
Torfaen Opportunities Group (TOGs), making their film It's Been
a Good Day Today about the TAGs (Torfaen Action Group) Youth
Group for young disabled people. This Community Media project
used video and photography to develop their confidence, build arts skills
and creativity, share experiences and increase their
self-esteem. All the participants gained an OCN accreditation for
the project.
